Description:
This
is a widefield view of a very faint but interesting emission nebula
listed in the Sharpless
Catalog (SH2-202, page 262, Table 1),
located in the constellation Camelopardalis
(the Giraffe). In addition to many dark dust lanes coursing
throughout this star forming region, there are several other beautiful
targets, including the mixed reflection/emission nebulae vdB 14 and 15,
as well as vdB 11 and IC 1871.
An asterism that is popular among visual observers is also noted just
right of center, referred to as Pazmino's
Cluster (Stock 23), although it is not considered to be part of
SH2-202 itself. Finally, the planetary nebula IC289 can be seen
as well on the right hand side of the image.
