Description:
IC5067 is star forming factory located in the neck of the Pelican
Nebula. The star forming nature of this region is evidenced by
multiple Herbig-Haro objects and bow shocks present in this field of
view- the most prominent being the bipolar jets emanating from the tip
of the elephant trunk just the right of center (HH 555). Such
Herbig-Haro
jets represent high energy gas that is emitted along the rotational
axis of the star in either direction, interacting with the surrounding
interstellar medium and often creating a bow shock. I imaged this
region exclusively in Ha because it conveys a greater sense of detail
and contrast compared to a corresponding HaRGB composite. There
aren't too many objects that look better in Ha than in RGB, but in my
opinion IC5067 is one of them.
